Diversity and Inclusion
X NNPBC is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and especially welcomes the contributions of members who identify as Indigenous, racialized/persons of colour, LGBTQIA2S+, persons with disabilities, and others who are marginalized. We recognize the impacts of colonialism, disrupt racism and discrimination, and practice cultural safety and humility.

Our Vision
X NNPBC is home for nurses in BC, using our nursing expertise to transform health and health systems within British Columbia.

Our Mission
X NNPBC supports and promotes excellence in all domains of nursing practice and enables nurses to lead, influence, and transform health, the health care system, health and social policy, and the nursing profession itself.

Our History
X BC's four nursing associations, which represented the four nursing designations BC - RNs, LPNs, NPs and RPNs - have been collaborating closely since 2013 on the BC Coalition of Nursing Associations (BCCNA or the Coalition). This collaboration was groundbreaking in demonstrating the importance of collaboration and nursing unity to strengthen the profession.

Over the past several years since the Coalition was formed, we have learned that equal representation, regardless of the numbers of nurses working in each designation, is a very important part of an effective and fair Board. This equal representation is vital to the smooth running of the organization so that each designation has an equal and valued voice at the table and in our decision-making processes.

While the Coalition was a powerful force in bringing together the nursing profession in the province and demonstrating that it is possible to break down the siloes and hierarchies that exist in the profession, the nursing groups were not unified under a single umbrella, until now.

Celebrating 5 Years of Advocacy

Now, NNPBC celebrates five years as the single united professional association representing all nursing designations in this province. We are privileged to have been the first united association of this kind in Canada, and to represent a strong voice of BC nurses on the national and international stage.

By our mandate, NNPBC supports and promotes excellence in nursing practice, education, research and leadership, and empowers nurses to actively engage in advocacy to influence health and social policy. Over these few years, NNPBC has significantly grown its programs and offerings, which include professional development, professional practice, research, career advancement, and networking opportunities and resources. We look forward to continuing to grow our programs for our members.

Thank you to our members, the RNs, RPNs, NPs and LPNs of BC, for your dedication to advancing a united nursing voice.

Tanya Peever

Hello! My name is Tanya Peever. I am currently employed as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Team Lead at the NP Lead KB Health Primary Care Clinic serving the Kootenay Boundary Region.

I was born and raised in Southern BC and after a short stay in Alberta, have made my way back to Nelson. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014 from Douglas College. This was followed by working in a rural hospital where I primarily focused on Emergency care. I was able to shift focus towards Primary Care while completing my Masters of Nursing from University of Saskatchewan. My education and work experiences have lent itself to a positive start into independent practice following amazing mentorship from all sources.

Since returning to Southern BC, I have been provided with many opportunities to grow my role as a Nurse Practitioner. This has allowed me to learn from visionaries to continue the ongoing growth of the Nurse Practitioner but also growth strength in my own practice. I have found myself working with the Divisions of Family Practice on numerous projects. I am also a current member of the BCCNM Registration Committee.

In this role, I hope to collaborate with colleagues and bring a uniquely rural lens to the provision of care. I am a keen advocate for ongoing learning, team based care, and reduction of barriers to care for patients.

In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, primarily in the form of some kind of downhill sport such as snowboarding or mountain biking. I love to be challenged with new learning of all kinds.

Lori Campbell

I would be honoured to represent the RN council on the NNPBC board and think that my long history of involvement with NNPBC and one of its predecessor organizations ARNBC (serving as its final Board Chair), means that I have lots to bring to the table. Through my years of involvement, I have developed a good understanding of the role of a board in a non-profit organization, and organizational decision-making.

My long-time commitment to ensuring that there is a strong, unified association to represent all nursing professions mean that I want to work collaboratively with all designations to move forward with all of our best interests in mind. I also want to ensure that nurses from equity-seeking groups have a voice in our organization, so working to ensure that NNPBC has diverse voices is important to me.

My 10 years of work in Clinical Informatics has given me a broad perspective of various types of nursing across many types of healthcare in BC. My passion for making clinical workflows the key driving factor in healthcare leadership is something that I also bring to work in our Nursing association.

Michelle Danda

I believe I am well-suited to join the NNPBC Board, given my diverse experience and perspective. I have been an RN in BC since 2008 serving staff nurse, educator and lead roles in various health authorities in the Lower Mainland. In the last 5 years I have become more involved in volunteer work in nursing associations and organizations. My role as the Western Representative of the Harm Reduction Nurses Association from June 2021 to September 2024 has allowed me to champion innovative and compassionate nursing practices, focusing on advocacy work for harm reduction nurses in BC and Alberta. Currently, I am also actively involved on the Communication and Membership Committee of the Canadian Federation of Mental Health Nurses, a position I’ve held since 2020, where I work to advance mental health nursing in Canada by developing effective communication and member engagement strategies. I am currently the secretary of the BC Historical Nursing Society, a position that has allowed me to deeply engage with the history of nursing in BC, and learn more about secretarial duties on a volunteer board. That term is up in June 2025.

My background in mental health and substance use nursing is extensive, and I bring additional expertise in informatics and nursing professional practice. Since the summer of 2023, I have managed a small team of nursing educators dedicated to improving the quality of mental health nursing within a large health organization, which has strengthened my leadership and strategic skills.

I completed my PhD in October 2023. My research focused on the history of Registered Psychiatric Nursing education in BC, which has provided me with a deep understanding of the historical context of RPNs alongside RNs in mental health. This historical insight complements my practical experience and enhances my ability to contribute to evidence-based practices and innovative solutions.

I am also passionate about mentoring student nurses, reflecting my commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals. With my broad skill set and deep knowledge, I am excited about the opportunity to bring my perspective to the NNPBC Board, integrating clinical experience, research, and strategic vision.

Carla Tilley

There are numerous avenues through which one can contribute to the esteemed Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of British Columbia (NNPBC) organization. Serving on the Board of Governors represents a pivotal opportunity in this regard. My current professional endeavors are centered around education and research within the nursing discipline. As a professor, I instruct across a diverse array of programs, including Health Care Aide, Licensed Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, and multidisciplinary graduate-level curricula. This breadth of experience in teaching and research across various health disciplines is an asset that I can bring to the Board.

Moreover, my position outside the jurisdiction of health authorities allows me to offer a unique perspective to the Board's deliberations. Furthermore, through my active involvement in several provincial and federal organizations and associations, I maintain a comprehensive understanding of both macro and micro-level issues pertaining to nursing practice. This holistic awareness enables me to contribute meaningfully to the groups I engage with, including the NNPBC Board of Governors.
