Advocacy in action with your NNPBC membership
There’s power in having a voice where decisions about nursing are made.
NNPBC brings that voice forward on behalf of our members. We work with government and partners to strengthen how nurses and NPs are supported, address barriers in practice and shape policies that reflect the realities of nursing.

What makes NNPBC membership different?
NNPBC exists to strengthen the nursing profession and is distinct from the regulatory college or a union. We’re the first unified nursing association of our kind in Canada, created to amplify the collective voice of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs), and Nurse Practitioners (NPs).
Understanding the roles of different nursing organizations in BC helps you know where to turn for support and information.

Your professional nursing association — that's us!
Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC: Brings together all four nursing designations, offering career and wellness resources, advancing professional growth, and advocating for nurses and nurse practitioners in health and social policy.
Regulator
BC College of Nurses and Midwives: Sets the standards of safe, ethical practice; assesses nursing and midwifery education programs; establishes requirements for registration with BCCNM; and addresses complaints about nurses and midwives.
Unions
Strengthen the workforce by representing nurses as employees, negotiating fair wages and benefits, and addressing workplace issues through collective bargaining.
